Meme from faded_lace
Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

Kit gave me five things that are forcing me to talk about a period in my life that I'm rather embarrassed about. XD;;

Gravitation was many people's first yaoi anime, but I'm an usual case because it was also the first anime, period, that I really got into. I have fond memories from ninth grade of going to Kit's house and watching Gravitation on demand, and reading Hawk Clowd's fic on fanfiction.net. XD;; Those were the days... More recently, rping Hiro on poignation was lots of fun XD;; [EDIT] I forgot to mention the OTHER fond memories of Gravitation, which was Beth showing us the manga at Goucher. I remember being really amused by the "I said it on two! I want a kiss!" scene. XD;

Ridiculous mp3 players
Ok, so I hold that it was not the mp3 player that was ridiculous, but rather it was just ME who was ridiculous. You see, in eighth grade for my bat mitzvah I received an mp3 player from my aunt. I was under the impression that it was pretty good technology at the time (although I may have been wrong) and it also held sentimental value since it had been picked out by my late uncle. And even though it only held about 40 songs, it really was a step up in convenience from my CD player. But all that aside, there's really no excuse for how ridiculous I acted while using it. XD;;; I really have no idea why it caused me to be so insane at Goucher that summer. Long story short, I look ridiculous in every picture from those two weeks, and in nearly every picture I'm listening to my mp3 player. Even pictures I wasn't actually supposed to be in at all. XD;;

Excessive punctuation
Punctuation and I had an unfortunate affair when I was in about eighth and ninth grade. I somehow didn't realize that using only one punctuation mark at a time was really quite sufficient. It ended with me becoming an abusive partner and Kit filing a restraining order on punctuation's behalf. Happily, we soon reconciled and now we get along quite well.

Boom x4
At Goucher's dance camp, the jazz teacher was Lester, an amazing and hilarious gay man. He liked to use the song Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom by the Vengaboys during class. I don't recall whether he brought it himself or if it was on a mix someone made for him, but either way, we thought it was a really hilarious song. The shameful part of this story is that I wrote a 58 songfic to it. Which will never, EVER see the light of day. It was just really, really bad XD;;;

I love cookies~ They're my favorite thing to bake, a fact that I realized around the same time as all the other stuff in this post was going on. My mom didn't like having so many cookies around, though, so I ended up bringing them to Kit's family sometimes. I ended up starting a cookie business the summer after ninth grade, and I did it for three summers, with varying levels of success. If you ever want me to bake you some cookies (while I'm at home, not while I'm at school), feel free to ask...although I might say no! I really want to bake some hamentashen this spring, but my lack of cookie sheets is problematic...

Well. I hope you enjoyed that look into my embarrassing past?

I'm trying to bake hamentashen as well, but I'm having issues with the dough. The gluten version puts up with a lot of abuse, and in general, gluten-free dough can't deal with that level of kneading, rolling, filling, and pinching. I think that I'm going to have to up the levels of xanthan gum, and use more of a thumb-print cookie approach to shape the cookies.

Good luck! I don't know anything about gluten-free baking, so I can't really offer you any advice...

Gluten-free baking is very interesting in that you need to use two or three different flours for the wheat flour. Also, you need to vary backing times, amount of liquid, and investigate other cooking techniques. For example, any quick bread I make has an extra egg and is baked floating in a vat of warm water. Yay for stupidly hard diets!

♬ Haha, I didn't think about the fact that it was your first anime period. XD;;; No wonder you're a yaoi fangirl. XD;;

♬ No, the mp3 player was definitely ridiculous. If you got it in early 8th grade, that means you got it in later 2003. The first iPod was invented in October of 2001, and could hold up to 10 gigs. It was a little less than twice the size of your mp3 player, but had the capacity for playlists and a lot more music. The iPod that would have been available at the same time as your mp3 player could hold up to 20 gigs and was compatible with windows, so you could have had something much, much better. So, I continue to hold that, while you multiplied the ridiculosity, it was still ridic. Also, you still had it when I had my iPod mini, and I think there's a clear winner between those two. So no. It was certainly not the best technology of its time.

That being said, I should scan some of those really embarrassing pictures of you from Goucher. Since you're in like. Every single one.

♬ Even if you reconciled, Punctuation will never be the same after you ruined its life... XD;;; I like the way you phrased that one.

♬ The funny part is that you entitled it "Boom x4" instead of actually writing it out. And don't forget the line you changed. XD;;; And you like. Tried to write sex and skipped over the important parts. XD;;;

Ok, but even if it wasn't the best technology of its time that doesn't mean it was ridic when I got it. And by the end, I knew it had become ridic and really wanted an iPod. But I think you should stop insulting it, it makes me sad XD;;

And if you ever scanned those pictures I might kill you.

XD;; I'm sorry, Punctuation! Please forgive me!

And...I can make you some shortbread this summer or something. But maybe you should ask me more nicely XD

Hi!!! *Glomp*
@_@ This is a meme isn't it?! *is enthused*

Wow, and because I now have lj, I can respond, and ask you for five things to write about. You can ask me about my icon, or my secret love of gen, or nihongo, or Batman- um. Suggestions are not usually supposed to come from the memed though are they? What is the meaning of the word meme anyway?

(I have a punctuation problem as well. Specifically, a punctuation problem with parenthesis (it's really quite serious (I think parenthesis are part of the reason I've taken such a liking to programming (because you can have as many sets of parenthesis within parenthesis as your heart desires (computers never get confused by that sort of thing!)), and in other venues, I am determined to begin a slightly less abusive relationship on the side with. uh. Footnotes.)))

Re: Hi!!! *Glomp*
Yay memes :D A meme is an idea that passes from person to person, I believe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme (I refuse to pronounce it "meem" though, because I only recently learned that that was the correct pronunciation, and pronouncing it like romaji was just too ingrained in my brain already. Sometimes I compromise and say it like "mem".)

So, five things. Let's see...

1. Naruto
2. Computer science
3. Comic books
4. Nihongo!
5. Really long facebook messages ♥

Maybe not a very interesting five things...I'm sorry. We can do this meme again in a few years when everything we do now will seem funny and nostalgic XD;;;
