Today in American Lit...  
Ms. Clarke: The closeness of the (pause) relationship between Hawthorne and Melville causes their writing styles to be very similar.

That combined with the passage in the unit introduction about the two of them makes me laugh a lot. XD;;

Haha, I noticed that, too. I mean, they edited each other's books! They lived down the street! Hawthorne had, if I remember correctly, a cold marriage!

Hawthorne/Melville would at least make for very descriptive, well-written slash...

...I thought they lived together, actually. XD; What I do know is that Hawthorne was some sort of mentor to Melville, and that Melville dedicated Moby Dick to Hawthorne. And Melville was emo because people didn't like his books as much as Hawthorne's. XD;;

But I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it XD
